Overview
The village and its ski area
Arc 1800 is in Savoie, France, and is part of the wider Les Arcs ski area. The figures below describe that shared area rather than the village alone. Across Les Arcs there are 169.3 km of mapped classified downhill runs and 48 lifts. The ski area runs from 1199 m at its lowest mapped point to 3214 m at its highest. These are ski-area figures, not the altitude of Arc 1800 itself.
For families, the run mix is the useful number. Beginner terrain makes up 56.84% of the mapped classified downhill runs, so there is a lot of gentle skiing to build confidence on. That suits parents with children who are new to snow, and it leaves room for stronger skiers to move on to harder runs as the week goes on.
Lifts across Les Arcs are advertised as running from 12 December 2026 to 24 April 2027. Paradiski's Vanoise Express link to La Plagne is advertised only through 17 April 2027, so check that date if a day out on the neighbouring area is part of your plan.
On cost, our budget planning tier puts a week here at about EUR 62.32 per person per night. That is based on a family of four (two adults and children aged 6 and 10) in a one-bedroom apartment for seven nights from 13 February 2027. The apartments checked were in Charmettoger and Les Villards. Branded 3 to 4 star residences cost about twice as much. An adult one-day Pass Classique for Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry is EUR 71 (ages 13 to 64) at the 2026-2027 rate, valid from 19 December 2026 to 16 April 2027. The Paradiski pass costs more.

Family fit
How it suits a family
For younger children, Les Skimômes is an ESF ski-and-activity mini-club for ages 3 to 8. It includes ski-school childcare, with supervised care around the ESF lessons and optional meals and afternoon care. It is not infant care, and there is no infant nursery listed, so families with under-3s will need to make their own arrangements. Reserve the package that matches your child. Ages and programme conditions apply.
Lessons are available in English. Arc Aventures by Evolution 2 offers children's group lessons with French or English instructors, and you need to book the language you want. A free lift pass is listed for children under 5 for winter 2026/27. Proof of age is needed, and you should obtain the required pass and reconfirm any card or insurance charges before you travel. For accommodation, L'Aiguille Grive advertises ski-in/ski-out at Charmettoger in Arc 1800. Access depends on the property and on snow conditions.
Off the slopes, Luge 1800 is listed at Arc 1800. Height and age rules, weather and opening hours all apply.
On school holidays, Christmas and February half-term are both reasonable shortlist periods within the advertised 12 December 2026 to 24 April 2027 season. That is not a guarantee of snow, childcare places or operations, so check exact school dates and local lift and service opening. Easter also works for the family area, provided the beginner lifts and children's area run through Friday 16 April 2027, the last day of the latest UK Easter school holidays. ESF Arc 1800 is listed as open from 12 December 2026 to 23 April 2027, with reduced hours in the final week from 18 April. Check the school calendar, live lift status and care dates before you book.
