Overview

The village and its ski area

Belle Plagne is a car-free village in Savoie, France, and part of the wider La Plagne ski area. The village page describes ski-in/ski-out accommodation, though it is worth checking the specific building you are considering and the snow conditions, as access depends on both.

The figures below describe the whole La Plagne ski area, not Belle Plagne itself. The area has 186.4 km of mapped classified downhill runs served by 74 lifts. Its mapped terrain runs from 1217 m at the lowest point to 3058 m at the highest. These are ski-area altitudes and should not be read as the height of the village. Beginner terrain makes up 63.97% of the mapped classified runs, which is a good sign for families with children who are still learning.

On cost, our planning assessment puts Belle Plagne in the budget tier. For a family of four (two adults and children aged 6 and 10) staying seven nights from 13 February 2027, the median was about EUR 58.30 per person per night. That comes from small two and three-room apartments of 27 to 36 m2, mostly graded by the letting agency rather than by stars. Tourist tax, linen and final cleaning are extra. An adult one-day La Plagne pass (ages 13 to 64) is EUR 72 for 19 December 2026 to 16 April 2027, and the Paradiski pass costs more. Treat all of this as a planning guide, not a quote.

Family fit

How it suits a family

For the youngest children, ESF runs the Piou Piou ski club for ages 3 to 4 and the Ourson club for ages 5 to 6. These are supervised ski kindergartens, not an infant nursery. For younger children, the Flocons et Petits Pas daycare takes ages 5 months to 4 years. It is advertised for 21 December 2026 to 17 April 2027, on weekdays only. Places are limited and need advance booking. Oxygène also lists Belle Plagne and advertises English-speaking instructors. Ask for English when you book, because availability depends on dates and lesson type.

Lift passes are free for children until the day before their fifth birthday. You still need to obtain a pass and confirm the proof-of-age and product conditions. For non-skiers and rest days, the village lists the Deep Nature family spa and winter walking and snowshoe routes. Spa age and session rules apply, and guided routes have their own conditions.

The Plagne Altitude villages, Belle Plagne included, are published as open from 12 December 2026 to 24 April 2027. Christmas and New Year fall within that period, and so do all three February half-term planning weeks (8 to 28 February 2027). For Easter, the family area and its lifts need to run through Friday 16 April 2027, the last day of the latest UK Easter school holidays. ESF's Club Piou Piou calendar offers weeks from 12 December 2026 to the week of 17 to 24 April 2027. Check your own school calendar, live lift status, snow and childcare dates before booking, as there is no snow guarantee.
