Overview
The village and its ski area
Arinsal is the village base within the combined Pal-Arinsal ski area in Massana, Andorra. The mapped terrain is shared across the whole area, so the figures below describe Pal-Arinsal rather than Arinsal alone. There are 39.2 km of mapped classified downhill runs and 31 lifts. The ski area runs from 1554 m at its lowest mapped point to 2541 m at its highest. Those are ski-area figures, not the altitude of the village itself.
For families, the run mix is the main attraction. Beginner terrain makes up 61.28% of the mapped classified downhill runs, which suits children who are still finding their feet and parents who want gentle slopes to progress on together. It is not a huge area, so more confident skiers may want to think about how many days they will want to fill.
The 2026/27 ski season is planned to run from 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027. As always, check lift and terrain status closer to your dates, as snow cannot be guaranteed.
Ski-in/ski-out accommodation is available. One example is YOMO Patagonia in Arinsal, which advertises ski-in/ski-out at the six-seat chairlift and has family apartments. That applies to that hotel, not to every property in the village. Confirm your selected room, the connecting slope and whether the lift is operating before you book.

Family fit
How it suits a family
The ski school is English-speaking, but check exactly what is covered. In the official booking flow we checked for 28 December 2026, the private adult/junior lesson product for Arinsal offers English in the lesson-language selector. That does not mean English is available in every child or group course. Request English when you book and get confirmation, because instructors, slots and language all depend on availability. Private tuition starts at EUR 115 for two hours, and child group courses start at EUR 133.
A children's club is listed through the ski school's children's programmes, and ages and conditions apply. The Snow Garden is for ages 3 to 5. The Kids Program is for ages 3 to 11 and includes lessons, lunch and activities. Both run at La Caubella in Pal and Comallemple in Arinsal. The pass and equipment cost extra. A separate nursery takes ages 1 to 3, with non-ski supervision from 09:30 to 16:30. Proof of age is required and lunch is not included. A half day is 3 hours and a full day is 6 hours. Illness restrictions on admission apply. Don't assume children above 3 can be admitted to the nursery.
On passes, the operator gives a free baby pass for children under 5, with proof of age and collection from the ticket office. Its child tariff starts at 6, and the treatment of age 5 is unclear, so check before you travel. Age is assessed on the first day of use.
For days off skis, sledging, tubing and the Big Zip are in Pal. Getting there from Arinsal means travelling and checking the operating route and lifts. Sledging is prohibited elsewhere. Pal snowshoe trails need a Mountain Pass. Check booking, safety, age and daily opening rules for each activity.
On cost, we put an ordinary family hotel or apartment trip based in Arinsal in the mid tier. A search for 2 adults and two eight-year-olds, 28 December to 1 January, showed Xalet Besoli at EUR 1,796.58 and Vista Arinsal at EUR 1,881.22. Both prices were for four nights with three-day passes. Travel, hire, meals and care can add a lot, and peak weeks can cost more.
For school holidays, the Christmas period fits the planned season. Dated Christmas packages and a school special course starting on 27 December support holiday use, subject to reservations. February half-term also falls within the season, and the school publishes 2026/27 programmes. Confirm your sector, English instructor and care slots. Easter is less reliable. The operator plans to close on 4 April, so the early part of a break may work but a later week will not. Check your school's dates and book lessons and care early.

1Destination name14 Oct 2026
Arinsal is the researched destination within the combined Pal-Arinsal ski area in Andorra. The named hotel, nursery and verified private adult/junior English-lesson product establish Arinsal-specific family provision; mapped terrain remains shared across the combined area.
2Children’s club23 Oct 2026
Counted as a kids club because the Pal Arinsal ski school runs children's programmes (children's ski-school groups, Zauchensee precedent): the Snow Garden for ages 3 to 5 and the Kids Program for ages 3 to 11 with lessons, lunch and activities, at La Caubella (Pal) and Comallemple (Arinsal). Pass and equipment are extra; a separate nursery takes ages 1 to 3.
3Free child lift pass14 Oct 2026
Null: operator gives a free baby pass below age 5 with age proof and ticket-office collection, but starts the child tariff at 6. Treatment of age 5 is unresolved, so no complete age threshold is encoded. Age is assessed on the first day of use.
4English-speaking ski school14 Oct 2026
Official booking flow checked for 28 December 2026: Private classes → Arinsal → Private lessons adult/junior explicitly offers English in the lesson-language selector. This establishes that product, not English in every child/group course. Request English and obtain confirmation; instructors, slots and language remain subject to availability. 5Ski-in / ski-out14 Oct 2026
YOMO Patagonia in Arinsal explicitly advertises ski-in/ski-out at the six-seat chairlift and family apartments. This is evidence for that hotel, not every property or the Pal village; confirm the selected room, connecting slope and lift operation.
6Daycare14 Oct 2026
Nursery body and the separate /en/school overview both specify ages 1–3 in Pal and Arinsal. The snowgarden navigation still says 1–5, so do not assume admission above 3. Non-ski supervision, 09:30–16:30; age proof required, lunch excluded. Half day is 3 hours, full day 6 hours; illness admission restrictions apply.
7Non-skier activities14 Oct 2026
Sledging, tubing and Big Zip are in Pal; these activities require travel from Arinsal and a check of the operating route/lifts. Sledging elsewhere is prohibited. Pal snowshoe trails require a Mountain Pass. Activity-specific booking, safety, age and daily-opening restrictions must be checked.
8Price tier14 Oct 2026
Mid planning tier for an ordinary family hotel/apartment trip based in Arinsal: same-date search for 2 adults and two eight-year-olds, 28 December–1 January, showed Xalet Besolí EUR 1,796.58 and Vista Arinsal EUR 1,881.22 for four nights with three-day passes. Private tuition starts at EUR 115/2h and child group courses at EUR 133; travel, hire, meals and care can add substantially. Original broad category, not a resort price claim or final quote; accommodation and peak-week choice can move it higher.
9Christmas14 Oct 2026
Planned 4 December 2026–4 April 2027 ski season covers the council example of 21 December–1 January. Dated Christmas packages and the school special 27 December course start support practical holiday use, subject to reservations. Check the actual school dates, lift/terrain status and confirmed care/lesson booking; no snow or 2028 operating guarantee.
10February half-term14 Oct 2026
February 2027 lies within the planned ski season, including the council example 15–19 February and dataset planning weeks beginning 8, 15 and 22 February. The school publishes 2026/27 programmes; confirm the required sector, English instructor and care slots. Check the actual school dates, lift/terrain status and confirmed care/lesson booking; no snow or 2028 operating guarantee.
11Easter14 Oct 2026
Conservative exclusion for a full Easter break: the council example is 26 March–9 April 2027, while the operator plans closure on 4 April. The early part may work; the later week does not fit the published season. This is a planning judgment, not a claim that all Easter dates are unsuitable. Check the actual school dates, lift/terrain status and confirmed care/lesson booking; no snow or 2028 operating guarantee.
