Overview
The village and its ski area
Folgarida is in Trento, in northern Italy, and belongs to the municipality of Dimaro Folgarida. It is part of the Folgarida-Marilleva ski area, which has 41 km of mapped classified downhill runs served by 27 lifts. This guide covers Folgarida itself. The other Folgarida-Marilleva villages, Marilleva and Daolasa, and the linked Madonna di Campiglio area are not covered here.
The ski area's mapped altitudes run from 1290 m at the lowest point to 2175 m at the highest. These are ski-area figures across Folgarida-Marilleva, not the altitude of the village itself. Beginner terrain makes up 56.31% of the mapped classified downhill runs, which is a useful starting point if your children are still finding their feet on snow.
From the village, the Folgarida and Belvedere gondolas leave from Piazzale Folgarida and Piazzale Belvedere. They go up to Malghet Aut, where the Kinderland and Family Park are. The published 2026/27 season runs from 3 December 2026 to 11 April 2027 for the whole SkiArea, Folgarida and Marilleva included, with opening subject to weather.
On cost, we put Folgarida in a mid planning tier, based on official ski prices only. An adult one-day Folgarida Marilleva pass at the ticket office is EUR 72 in the top season, which runs 20 December 2026 to 6 January 2027 and 7 to 20 February 2027. From 21 February it is EUR 68. Online prices are dynamic and sit below these list prices. Accommodation, travel and meals can move a real trip into another tier, so treat this as a planning guide, not a quote.

How it suits a family
The AEvolution ski school has offices on Piazzale Folgarida and at Malghet Aut. Its children's group courses for ages 3 to 13 in winter 2026/27 are called AEVO SUPERCLASSIC. They run from Sunday or Monday to Friday. On Sunday to Wednesday the lessons are 10:00 to 12:50. On Thursday and Friday there is a full ski day from 10:00 to 16:00 with a hut lunch. From 24 December to 8 January this is replaced by an AEVO CHRISTMAS course, 10:00 to 12:50, which can start on any day. A version for ages 3 to 8 adds lunch and afternoon play at the Kinderland, and AEVO BABYVIP is for beginners aged 3 to 4. Lesson hours may be cut for groups under six children. The children's group course costs EUR 320 for six days (24 hours).
The school's instructors speak English, among other languages. Groups are formed by level, though, so an English-speaking group is not guaranteed.
The Kinderland is run by the same school at Malghet Aut, by the top of the Folgarida and Belvedere gondolas, not in the village. It looks after children from age 2 with qualified staff, daily from 10:00 to 16:00 in winter, with or without ski lessons. Children are registered on arrival and must be collected by 16:00. Children of 12 to 24 months are taken only with an adult present, from 09:30 to 13:00. It costs EUR 15 an hour, or EUR 82 a day for six hours with a meal. No opening or closing dates are published.
Also at Malghet Aut, the Family Park has tubing, a carousel, two magic carpets, two drag lifts, the Bamby chairlift and an easy snowpark line for first-time skiers. No prices or ages are given. We found no other non-skier activity placed in Folgarida itself.
A free ski pass is listed for accompanied children born in 2019 or later, which is under age 8 for 2026/27. It must be of the same type and length (1 to 14 days) as an adult family member's pass, with one child per adult. Confirm the conditions before booking. For ski-in/ski-out, Park Hotel Folgarida says it stands directly on the Folgarida runs. Hotel Belvedere is listed beside the Belvedere gondola station.
For UK holidays, Christmas and the February half-term weeks (from 8, 15 and 22 February) fall within the published season. A full Easter break is less certain, because the planned closing on 11 April 2027 does not cover all later April school dates. An earlier Easter stay may work. The Funivie Folgarida Marilleva 2026-2027 tariff gives an accompanied child born in 2019 or later a free ski pass (1 to 14 days) of the same type and length as the one bought by an adult family member, one child per adult. Recorded as 8 with that condition: a birth-year rule converted to the age for the 2026/27 season (owner convention 2026-10-23 for birth-year and accompanied free passes).

Park Hotel Folgarida (Via Monti Alti 53, Folgarida) says on its own site that it stands directly on the Folgarida ski runs and that skiers can leave and return to the hotel on skis. Applies to that hotel on the Folgarida runs; elsewhere in the village the gondolas leave from Piazzale Folgarida and Piazzale Belvedere, where the operator lists Hotel Belvedere beside the Belvedere gondola station.
