Overview
The village and its ski area
Andalo is in the province of Trento in northern Italy, and its skiing is part of the wider Paganella ski area, shared with Fai della Paganella. The ski area has 33.9 km of mapped classified downhill runs served by 16 lifts. Those figures belong to the whole area rather than to Andalo alone, so think of the village as your base for a shared network.
The mapped terrain runs from 1025 m at its lowest point to 2124 m at its highest. These are ski-area altitudes, not the height of the village itself. Beginner terrain makes up 29.46% of the mapped classified runs. That is a useful share for first-timers, though it is not a dedicated nursery-slope resort, so families with confident intermediates will find the mix balanced.
One practical point on getting to the snow. The family hotel we have notes for describes the Rindole teaching slopes as 300 metres away, with a shuttle. Plan on a short walk or transfer from central accommodation and do not assume you can ski from the door. For budgeting, an adult one-day Paganella pass costs EUR 76 at the desk in the 2026/27 high season, which covers 19 December 2026 to 10 January 2027 and 6 to 28 February 2027. Online prices are dynamic and lower. Overall, treat Andalo as a mid-priced option, and bear in mind that peak-week quotes vary.

Family fit
How it suits a family
For ski lessons, the Andalo Italian Ski School is listed in the official Paganella tourism information as teaching in English. Ask for English for your specific group or private course when you reserve, so it is confirmed rather than assumed.
Childcare is mostly tied to hotels, so check before you book. The Piz Galin Mini Club takes children aged 3 to 12, Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 22:00, with free-play mornings and organised workshops in the afternoon. It is for hotel guests only, and you should confirm the programme and staff availability when booking. For younger children, Il Nido di Pizzi at the same hotel looks after guests aged 6 to 35 months, Monday to Saturday, with qualified early-years staff. It is also for guests only and is not available for younger babies.
On lift passes, the 2026/27 Paganella prices make a child born in 2019 or later free with a paying adult, except on hourly passes. That works out as under 8 for the season, but confirm the conditions when you buy. Juniors are those born from 2009 to 2018. For days off skis, the Andalo Life FAQ lists swimming pools, an ice rink and a Winter Park. Check the winter calendar and the age and admission conditions first.
On school holidays, the day-pass price periods run from 21 November 2026 to 28 March 2027. Christmas and New Year fall inside that, as do all three February half-term weeks (8 to 28 February 2027). There is no snow guarantee, so check opening days, lift status and childcare places before you commit. Easter dates vary and late-season village access and services are not established for the whole possible holiday window, so confirm details carefully if you plan to travel then.

12Easter12 Oct 2026
https://www.scuolasciandalo.com/en/children/ | Reviewed 2026-10-12. Original editorial assessment, not a quoted supplier rating: Conservative exclusion for an unrestricted Easter recommendation because UK Easter dates vary and late-season village access/services are not established for the entire possible holiday window. This does not assert that Easter skiing is unavailable.
