Overview
The village and its ski area
Bormio is a village in Alta Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio in Italy, sitting at the foot of its ski area. The skiing is split into Bormio 2000 and Bormio 3000, and a cable car from the edge of town takes you up to Bormio 2000. The village is also where you will find the ski schools, hotels, ice rink and thermal baths. Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi-San Colombano share the pass but are separate ski areas, so this guide does not cover them.
The numbers are modest rather than huge. Bormio Ski has 30.3 km of mapped classified downhill runs and 14 lifts. The ski area runs from 1197 m at its lowest mapped point to 3012 m at its highest. Those are ski-area figures, not the altitude of the village itself. Beginner terrain makes up 19.88% of the mapped runs, so this is a resort where confident beginners and improvers will find more to do than complete first-timers.
On cost, we put Bormio in the mid planning tier. An adult one-day pass costs EUR 65 at the ticket office in high season, which is 26 December 2026 to 8 January 2027 and 30 January to 29 March 2027. Six days on the three-area pass cost EUR 342. Online dynamic prices may differ. That is based on ski prices only, because no lodging prices were checked. Your accommodation, week of travel and meals can move a real trip up or down.

Family fit
How it suits a family
For children's lessons, the Scuola Nazionale Sci & Snowboard Bormio runs All Day for Kids. This is a children's full-day ski course from 11:00 to 16:00 with instructors and optional lunch at EUR 10. Prices for winter 2026/27 start from EUR 110 a day. The school also has a Mini Club at Bormio 2000, where qualified staff look after children with snow play during the ski day. It costs EUR 50 a day or EUR 15 an hour, with hour packages. No age range is published, so ask the school before you book.
If you need English, the Scuola Sci Contea di Bormio says its instructors speak English among several languages. The Scuola Nazionale lists English as a teaching language for most of its 54 instructors. An English-speaking group is not guaranteed, so confirm when you book. Separately, the Miramonti Park Hotel runs a miniclub for its guests only. It takes children from age 3, six days a week (not Sundays), from December to March. Sessions run 15:30 to 19:30 and 20:30 to 22:00. For under-3s, the hotel can arrange an independent babysitter on request. This is for guests only, for a fee and subject to availability.
There is a free Baby pass for children born in 2019 or later, for 1 to 21 days. It needs an adult-priced pass for the same period bought at the same time, with one free child per paying adult. Confirm the conditions before you buy. Ski-in/ski-out is possible for lodging by the cable-car base, such as the Hotel Alù, but most of the old town is a walk or shuttle ride from the lifts. Off the slopes, the indoor ice rink (Palaghiaccio) is open July to March with skate hire, and there is an indoor curling rink next to it. Bormio Terme has thermal pools with children's areas, a floating track for children and swimming courses. Snowshoe routes start near the village, with hire in town.
The published 2026/27 season runs from 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027, with opening subject to snow. Christmas and New Year fall within it, as do the February half-term weeks starting 8, 15 and 22 February. A full Easter break is less certain. The planned closing on 11 April 2027 does not cover all later April school dates, though an earlier Easter stay may work. Check your school calendar and live lift status before booking.

8Price tier22 Oct 2026
Mid planning tier. Basis (owner decision 2026-10-22): official dated ski prices only; no lodging price was sampled. The batch rule compares the dated adult peak day pass with the EUR 69 premium-season day pass behind the existing mid tier for Jerzens (Hochzeiger), using the matcher's tier factors: at or below 0.8 times is budget only when dated school or childcare prices agree, at or above 1.3 times is premium, otherwise mid; luxury needs lodging evidence. The 2026/27 Bormio adult day pass costs EUR 65 at the ticket office in high season (26 December 2026–8 January 2027 and 30 January–29 March 2027), about 0.94 times the reference; six days on the three-area pass cost EUR 342. Online dynamic prices may differ. Accommodation, holiday week, travel and meals can move a real trip into another tier; this is a planning tier, not a quote.
9Adult day pass23 Oct 2026

12Easter22 Oct 2026
Published 2026/27 operations: 4 December 2026–11 April 2027. Conservative exclusion for a full Easter break: the planned closing on 11 April 2027 does not cover all later UK April school dates; an earlier Easter stay may work. This is a planning judgement, not a claim that every Easter date is unsuitable. Check the actual school calendar, live lift status and care dates; no snow or 2028 operating guarantee.
