Overview

The village and its ski area

Bramberg am Wildkogel is in Salzburg, Austria, and is the village where the Smaragdbahn gondola leaves for the Wildkogel ski area. The mapped area has 68.6 km of classified downhill runs and 21 lifts. Altitudes run from 814 m at the lowest mapped point to 2127 m at the highest. Those are ski-area figures, not the height of the village itself.

For families, the figure that stands out is that 73.97% of the mapped classified downhill runs are beginner terrain. That suits children who are still learning and parents who want easy runs to follow them down. The terrain is shared across the wider Wildkogel-Arena, so this page covers Bramberg's side only: the Smaragdbahn, the schools and lodging here, the finish of the 14 km toboggan run and the snow-tubing lift. It does not cover Neukirchen am Großvenediger or the Wildkogelbahn village.

On price, we put Bramberg in a mid planning tier. The 2026/27 adult day ticket is EUR 72, with no difference between high and low season, and a six-day adult ticket is EUR 358. A child born 2012 to 2020 pays EUR 36 a day. This tier is based on lift prices only, and no lodging prices were sampled. Accommodation, holiday week, travel and meals can all move a real trip into another tier.

Family fit

How it suits a family

Children born in 2021 or later are listed as skiing free on the Bergbahnen Wildkogel 2026/27 tariff, which works out as below age 6 for the season. Proof of age is needed, so confirm the conditions before you book.

Two ski schools in Bramberg run children's groups. Schneesportschule Wildkogel is next to the Smaragdbahn valley station. It teaches in small groups split by age and level, and it has its own children's practice area. Lessons run 10:00 to 12:00 and/or 13:15 to 15:15. Lunch care with a regional meal in its Kids Club costs EUR 17 a day. The school states that lessons are given in German, English and Dutch. Because groups are split by age and level, an English-speaking group is not guaranteed. Skischule Bramberg runs Zwergerl groups from age 3 and children's groups for ages 5 to 14 in its Kogel-Mia Kinderland at the Smaragdbahn top station. There are two moving carpets and a children's lift. Children's groups run 10:15 to 12:15 and 13:30 to 15:30, and lunch care including food is EUR 16 a day. Lunch care at both schools is for course children only. We found no resort-run nursery or ski-school care for children who are not skiing.

The Habachklause family hotel in Habach, about 3 km from the ski area, has a Baby-Club from birth and a Kids-Club from age 3, for staying guests only. For ski-in/ski-out, DAS Wildkogel apartment resorts at Senningerfeld say they have direct access to the ski area. Other Bramberg lodging may be further away.

Off the slopes, the 14 km floodlit natural toboggan run starts at the Smaragdbahn top station and ends in Bramberg. It is open until 22:00, or 18:00 on Mondays, from about mid-December to early or mid-March, snow permitting. The 2026/27 day ticket is EUR 58, or EUR 29 for a child, and children up to 6 should ride on a parent's sledge. Snow tubing at the Wennsergletscher family lift costs EUR 6 per person per hour, daily 09:00 to 16:00 while the lift runs. There is also a lantern trail in the village.

The published 2026/27 operating dates are 5 to 8 December 2026 and 11 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, subject to snow and weather. Christmas, New Year and the February half-term weeks from 8, 15 and 22 February fall inside that. Easter is less certain. Closing on 4 April 2027 does not cover all later April school dates, though an earlier Easter stay may work. Check your school calendar and live lift status before booking.

Counted as a kids club because these are children-only ski-school groups (Zauchensee precedent). Both schools' pages are undated. The Habachklause family hotel in Bramberg also runs a Kids-Club for its guests (see daycare).

DAS Wildkogel (Wildkogel Resorts, Senningerfeld 30–35, Bramberg) heads its own winter page 'Ski in/Ski out' into the Wildkogel Arena and says its apartment resorts have direct access to the ski area; the lift operator's piste list includes a valley run and a ski path from the Smaragdbahn mid-station down to Bramberg. Applies to the Senningerfeld area by the Smaragdbahn valley station; the hotel page is labelled winter 2025/26. Other Bramberg lodging, such as the Habachklause in Habach, is about 3 km from the ski area.

  8. 8Price tier22 Oct 2026

Mid planning tier. Basis (owner decision 2026-10-22): official dated ski prices only; no lodging price was sampled. The batch rule compares the dated adult peak day pass with the EUR 69 premium-season day pass behind the existing mid tier for Jerzens (Hochzeiger), using the matcher's tier factors: at or below 0.8 times is budget only when dated school or childcare prices agree, at or above 1.3 times is premium, otherwise mid; luxury needs lodging evidence. The Bergbahnen Wildkogel winter 2026/27 tariff charges an adult EUR 72 for a day from opening and EUR 358 for six days, with no difference between high and low season, about 1.04 times the reference; child (born 2012–2020) EUR 36 a day. Accommodation, holiday week, travel and meals can move a real trip into another tier; this is a planning tier, not a quote.

  12. 12Easter22 Oct 2026

Published 2026/27 operations for the Smaragdbahn (Bramberg) and the Wildkogelbahn: 5–8 December 2026 and 11 December 2026–4 April 2027. Conservative exclusion for a full Easter break: the planned closing on 4 April 2027 does not cover all later UK April school dates; an earlier Easter stay may work. This is a planning judgement, not a claim that every Easter date is unsuitable. Check the actual school calendar, live lift status and care dates; no snow or 2028 operating guarantee.
